Driving Tips

I passed my Advanced Driving Test in 1986, having completed a number of Observed runs with members of the St Helens Group.

Being enthusiastic about Advanced Driving I stayed with the Group and have been an Observer ever since. I have participated in approximately 800 observed runs since 1986 in helping members of the public to pass the Advanced Test. In 1997 I obtained the Institute of Advanced Motorists Senior Observer Certificate and passed re-tests in 2002, 2005 and 2009. I was also the Group's Chairman for 4 years and the Training Officer for 6 years. I hope that the following driving tips/advice I have put together will help to plug some of the holes in your understanding of Advanced Driving. These are my own ideas except for a few contributions from fellow Observers, where appropriate credit is given. As always, please use the advice wisely.
