About Us
Affiliated to The Institute of Advanced Motorists (Registered Charity No:
1058971), the St. Helens Group of Advanced Motorists is one of more than 200 IAM
Groups - a voluntary organisation whose mission is the promotion of Road Safety
and assisting the general public to meet the requirements of the IAM's Advanced
Driving Test.
Established in 1985, the Group is in its 25th year and has
already helped over 500 local people to pass the Advanced Test. Over the years,
our first time pass rate has been established at over 95%. The majority of those
who fail have successfully passed the Test on their second attempt.
Our membership consists of volunteers who have passed the Advanced Test
and who then give some of their time to provide others the opportunity of
passing the Test.
We are a friendly Group with skilled, knowledgeable drivers who are keen
to help all those wishing to improve their driving skills. We meet weekly at
Training is
delivered in the form of:-
-
Theory training evenings
-
Regular driving sessions accompanied by observers (volunteers that have passed the advanced test and undergone further training).
The Group does not currently have a minibus or motorcycle section,
however if you are interested in doing the motorcycle test we encourage you to
visit our colleagues at the Warrington Group.
Following successful Test Pass, the Group also offers a training
programme for individuals who wish to progress further and become Observers
themselves.
